- DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is any verbal, physical or mental abuse in the home that makes one fear for their safety, sanity and/or their lives or those of their loved ones.
- SEXUAL ASSAULT is any adult contact not voluntary consented to by all parties. It is not a crime of sexuality or passion. It is one of aggression.
- CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT is using a child BOY OR GIRL, for sexual purposes. INCEST is child sexual assault committed by a family member. Such assault is ALWAYS the adult's responsibility.
- YOU ARE NOT ALONE: Chances are you know someone who is being abused but is unaware of it because domestic abuse is typically hidden inside the family. It strips its victims of emotional resources, often leaving them feeling isolated, alone and powerless.
- ABUSERS CAN BE ANYONE: They cross all economic, social, gender, age and ethnic groups. In all other ways they may be law abiding citizens, devoted parents or attentive spouses.
- WAITING TO TAKE ACTION DOESN'T HELP Domestic violence tends to get worse with time, with assaults becoming more frequent and often more violent, sometimes ending in death to the victim.
