Job Title: Executive Director

Employment Status: Full time-Exempt  
Salary: $53,000 - $65,000/yr DOE  
Shift: Monday-Friday, occasional nights and weekends  
Reports To: Board of Directors

Working Against Violence for Everyone (WAVE) is on a mission to support and advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault while promoting healthy relationships in the greater Petersburg area. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving this vital mission.

About Us:
At WAVE, we work closely with our Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to manage all aspects of our organization, including program development and implementation, fundraising, fiscal management, personnel and volunteer coordination, and community outreach. We are committed to fostering a culture of care, transparency, and collaboration as we empower individuals to make independent decisions and address the systemic roots of violence and oppression in our society.

Located in Petersburg, AK, our community boasts stunning natural surroundings, with ample opportunities for outdoor recreation in the Tongass National Forest. With approximately 3,200 year-round residents and a thriving fishing industry, Petersburg offers a welcoming environment for those who value community and natural beauty.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and programs.
- Recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees.
- Oversee fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor solicitation, and special events.
- Foster collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Represent WAVE at events and provide direct service advocacy coverage as needed.
- Light cleaning duties and travel to off-site locations with event materials as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities.
- Thorough understanding of systems of oppression as the root cause of gender-based violence.
- Ability to provide services with a trauma-informed approach.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Computer skills including database entry.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and supporting WAVE’s philosophy.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Pass a fingerprint FBI background check.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to change.
- High school diploma/GED.
- College-level study or experience in relevant fields preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Completion of 40 hours of relevant training within 3 months of hire.
